How to choose an electromagnet without overpaying for air

In practice, savings are achieved not by reducing quality, but by precisely matching the task. For example:

  • To move steel sheets with a thickness of 6–20 mm, a direct current with a voltage of 110 V and a power of 3.2 kW is sufficient;
  • To collect chips and scrap, you need a pulse mode with reverse magnetization: it turns off the residual force in 0.3 seconds;
  • To operate a beam crane with a cycle frequency of more than 120 per hour, a forced oil cooling system is required.

We do not recommend taking an electromagnet “with a margin of 2 times”. An overload of 100% reduces the winding life by 40%. It is much more effective to choose a model with adjustable current (from 40 to 100%) and a digital controller.
